Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Does SCVSH have any additional parking?
A: Yes. In addition to our side lot, clients are welcome to use the line of parking spaces closest to the mailboxes across the street.

Q: Is there a fee for the consultation and, if so, what is the price?
A: Yes, there is an initial consultation fee, which ranges from $112 to $165 depending on the department.

Q: Does SCVSH offer any kind of payment plans?
A: Our hospital doesn’t have payment plans, but we do offer a program called CareCredit that you can apply for online (www.carecredit.com) or in person at SCVSH. If approved, CareCredit offers a full range of financing options. On purchases of $200 or more, the company offers 6-, 12-, 18-, and 24-month plans that allow you to avoid paying interest if you make your minimum monthly payments and pay the full amount due by the end of the promotional period.

Q: What is included in the consultation?
A: Consultations include a doctor’s examination of your pet, a discussion of your pet’s medical history, and an explanation of diagnostic tests and/or treatment options for your pet.

Q: What are your hours?
A: Appointments with our specialists are scheduled Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. However, our ER/Critical Care department is open 24/7/365, and specialists from other departments are always on call if consultations are needed.

Q: Are appointments available on the weekend?
A: Yes, but only for certain departments. An ER/Critical Care doctor is on site 24/7/365, so if your pet needs immediate care he or she can be seen at any time. Specialists from other departments will be consulted, if needed.

Q: Do I have to bring my pet with me?
A: We ask that you bring your pet with you to the consultation, since the physical examination provides a more definitive scope of your pet’s needs.

Q: How much time does the consultation take?
A: Consultations typically last 30 to 60 minutes, depending on the department. If your doctor recommends diagnostic testing and you decide to pursue this on behalf of your pet, please understand that this will take additional time.

Q: Can I drop my pet off prior to my appointment?
A: Yes, but please call ahead to verify that the SCVSH has accommodations available.

Q: Do you accept pet health insurance?
A: Yes, we are happy to submit claims on behalf of clients who have pet health insurance, or we can provide information for clients who need to submit claims for reimbursement. Please contact insuranceclaims@scvsh.com for assistance.
